From the vineyards,....to the wines
With a surface area of 10,000 squares kilometres,
a population of half a million inhabitants, located between the
Pyrenees and the Ebro, Navarra has very attractive characteristics
thanks to its nature, landscape, history, culture, and traditions.
Situated at the border with France, Navarra is a natural gateway
towards the European Markets. Its network of highways and roads
provides a direct link with the most important commercial areas
on the local market.
Navarra landscape has always had vineyards.
During the Middle Age, it was a Royal privilege to possess great
extensions of vineyards. It was the monks, in monasteries, that
were used to work the soil and look for new varieties and techniques
of cultivation.
In its greatest period of expansion, Navarra
had up to 50,000 hectares of vineyards lie in the best lands of
a privileged zone between Bordeaux and Rioja, a famous and well-known
area where vines give the best of its fruits.
Navarra wines usually proceed from "Garnacha",
"Tempranillo", "Mazuelo" or "Cabernet-Sauvignon".
Together with the quality of these grapes, two other factors contribute
to enhance the personality and quality of Navarran wines. On one
hand, the atmospheric and ground conditions. On the other, a combination
of traditional and modern methods for wine elaboration.
This is how Navarra red wines were born: full-flavoured,
and with the elegance relevant to great wines. This is how, every
year, the unique, unbeatable Navarran Rosés, unequalled and
well known for their colour, brightness, freshness and lightness
are elaborated. This is how, every year, the white wines, full of
harmony and youth are presented.
